Living Life Without Undo

Skating Days, Working Nights

So I'm in week two of working 2nd shift (3p-11:30pm) at the Burbank post facility. I'm starting to get into the rhythm of things. I use the daytime to skateboard and play in general. It's rather nice having some daytime hours to take care of my own business. And the new commute is great! I have regained nearly two hours of my life every day. That adds up fast to a lot more hours to skateboard and ride the Vespa. Another awesome new toy I purchased is an Indo Balance Board. It's a great activity to work the core muscle groups while challenging your balance. Basically I'm spending the next several months training my body to withstand the rigors of surfing. While I have never been surfing, I intend to take lessons this year at some point. But to make the lessons successful, I am developing my board balance abilities. Next winter I intend to try snowboarding.

Corn Cob Pipes

Carlie looks like an old pro smoking a corn cob pipe. Corn cob pipes are a great way to celebrate the season of Frosty the Snowman.

Arbor Longboard

Here's a pic of the gorgeous Arbor longboard made with Hawaiian Kona. Riding this baby makes me want to take up surfing.

Skating

This year I've taken up the awesome sport of skateboarding. I never had a skateboard as a kid. It was deemed "too dangerous" "you'll break an arm" and "it's for boys". So now I'm giving it a go. I'm not great at it yet. But my goal is to be able to drop into a half pipe. I took a wicked spill on Saturday and I'm a bit sore (falling hurts more when you're older!) but I love it. I ride an Alien Workshop deck which rocks! And I've also picked up an Arbor longboard from the shop in Venice. It's great for carving and travelling. I can't Ollie yet...but I'll get it, I swear.

Here's a picture of my deck. It's sweet and I even got matching red trucks because I'm that COOL! :)

New Job

Quickie post here...
Got one more week left of editing for National Hot Rod Association. Had a blast working with the people there and last weekend I got to be "media" and hang out on the launch line and shoot video of the dragsters taking off. Pretty amazing! Soon I'll be starting my new job at Modern VideoFilm. Should be great! Lots to learn and an awesome commute. Plus benefits and full-time! My first real person job...by real person, I mean, not freelance status. It's a new frontier here.
